Sinking in the Shadows

Sinking in the shadows,
Sinking to the depths,
Drowning in my sorrow,
Deep, darkness, overwhelms me,
With nightmares of tomorrow.
 Shadows looming, overhead,
Searching, stalking, watching me,
Creeping ever near,
Living off my fear.
As I’m engulfed, in yearning tears,
Emptyness, does threaten.
Love has vanished from my heart,
As icy fingers tighten.
Sucking out my soul,
These gripping, clenching hands,
Pulling out my spirit,
Squeezing lifeless glands.
At peace at last, and resting,
This depression, comes to end,
Buried deep, beneath the soil,
My heartache does descend.
